Issues of the Heart (Chapter 5:17-48)

Jan 31, 2022    David Klingler

In this episode, Tim is joined by Theological Professor/Bible Teacher David Klingler to discuss the book of Matthew Chapters 5:17-48 on the issues of the heart. Topics represented in scripture read during today's episode deal with Salt and Light, the Law, Murder, Adultery, Divorce, Oaths, Hatred, and Love for your enemies. Matthew is the most Jewish-centric of the four gospels. The apostle regularly invoked the writings of the Old Testament prophets in an effort to illustrate Jesus's identity as Israel's long-awaited Messiah. Matthew wrote his account of Jesus's ministry to show that Jesus was and is indeed the King, Israel's long-awaited Messiah. Matthew's commitment to grounding the life of Jesus in the Old Testament raised Jesus above the multitude of these false messiahs.
